(Specialist), 214 posts of Medical Officers (General), 34 posts of Medical Officers (Dental) and
37 posts of Drug Inspectors which are lying vacant in the institutions of Health Department
Punjab.
AGE LIMIT:-
18 to 35 years on 1-1-2010. Relaxation as per state government rule.

Educational and other Qualifications for Medical Officer (Specialist):
i) M.B.B.S. Degree and holding Post Graduate degree in (M.S/M.D.) of requisite speciality
from an institution recognised by the Medical Council of India.
ii) Registered with the Punjab Medical Council or with any other duly constituted Medical
Council in India and
iii) Knowledge of Punjabi Language up to Matriculation Standard. Candidates who
do not possess the qualification shall have to acquire this qualification within six months
of their joining the service failing which their services shall be terminated.
Educational and other Qualifications for Medical Officer (General):
i) M.B.B.S. Degree from an institution recognised by the Medical Council of India.
ii) Registered with the Punjab Medical Council or with any other duly constituted Medical
Council in India and
iii) Knowledge of Punjabi Language up to Matriculation Standard. Candidates who do
not possess the qualification shall have to acquire this qualification within six
months of their joining the service failing which their services shall be terminated.
Educational and other Qualifications for Medical Officer (Dental):
The candidate should possess a degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S. Degree)
from a recognized University or institution or any equivalent degree from an institution
recognised by the Dental Council of India.
i) Should be registered in part ‘A’ of the register of the State Dental Council.
ii) Knowledge of Punjabi Language up to Matriculation Standard. Candidates who do not
possess the qualification shall have to acquire this qualification within six months of
their joining the service failing which their services shall be terminated.
Educational and other Qualifications for Drug Inspector:
Should possess a degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences or Medicine with
specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology from a recognized University or
institution:
Provided that only those inspectors:-
i) Who have not less than 18 months experience in the manufacture of at least one of the
substances specified in Schedule “C” of the Drugs and cosmetic Rules 1945; or
ii) Who have not less than 18 months experience in the testing of at least one of the
substances in Schedule “c” of the Drugs and cosmetic Rules 1945; in a laboratory
approved for this purpose by the licensing authority; or
iii) Who have gained experience of not less than 3 years in the inspection of farms
manufacturing any of the substances in Schedule “c” of the Drugs and Cosmetic
Rules 1945 during the tenure of their services as Drugs inspectors;
Shall be authorized to inspect the manufacture of the substances mentioned in Schedule “c”
of the Drugs and cosmetic Rules 1945.
